Where are the guys?

Well, once they see this picture they're sure to attend the next meeting. Present for the 4.08.08 critique session was facilitator Mary C. (far right, going left), Joann, Judi, Bev, Claire, Bev, Amber, Zan Marie and yours truly, Diana (taking photo).

Lunch at McGee's following meeting...Or is the meeting just an excuse to have lunch? Who cares...both are great.

"Sweet Beth," a screenplay by Joann Dunn
was the first completed from Elisa's
summer screenwriting seminar.
This dark comedy has, among other
attributes, she says,
"sparkling dialogue."

A tiny excerpt appears on her blog.

Four members represented
CCWC at the October 2008
Mecca Fest held at
the Carrollton
Cultural Arts Center.
Diana Black, Bev Bruemmer,
Joe Byrd and Mary Cunningham
report sales were good and
that attendees generously
embraced the idea of authors
accompanying the many talented
artists featured at the fest.

Many thanks to the Art Guild
and Penny Lewis for making
it all possible!

Two CCWC members are proud to
introduce their new book:
WOOF: Women Only Over Fifty!

Published by Echelon Press,
its official release date
is December 1, but Diana Black
(seated left) and Mary Cunningham
(seated right) will be happy to
sell you a copy (or 12!), signed and
dedicated to you or a special WOOFer
in your life.

Melinda Richarz Bailey is the
third author, and we're sure she'd
be a CCWC member were it not that it
would be a pretty long commute from
Tyler, Texas!

Check out their website & blog!

I have received some great news today. My Easter devotional book, This Holy Week, has been accepted by the Writer's Edge for listing in their report to the 75 largest Christian publishers. Many of these publishers do not accept unsolicted manuscripts, but use the Writer's Edge to find new authors. Needless to say, I am excited. I have to thank Susan Edwards and my church for great support and encouragement. I would never have found the confidence to attempt this scary job of writing without CCWC and all of your support and suggestions. -- Zan Marie Steadham
Congratulations to Richard Anderson.
His story Trinkett’s Law,
won third place in the
Byline Magazine New Talent Short Story Contest.
The editor commented, “. . . winners . . .
started strong, sustained momentum
and carried the judge through to the end.”
and, “. . . in a short piece there is no
room for flashbacks.”
Richard commented that he had
employed several flashbacks,
so they must have been
smooth enough to satisfy the judges.

Mary Cunningham is proud to announce the release of Book Three in her series, Cynthia's Attic. Colorful Pirates, SuRana, a shape-shifting puma, and an old Cajun guide named Mud Bug, join Cynthia and Gus, in Cynthia's Attic: Curse of the Bayou. --
The twelve-year-old best friends travel through the magic trunk in Cynthia's attic to a 1914 Louisiana bayou searching for Cynthia's great-grandfather, Beau Connor. Discovering a connection between Beau and Buzzard Jack LaBuse, the meanest, orneriest pirate this side of the Mississippi, leads to a heart-stopping confrontation to recover a long-lost treasure and lift a family curse.
